Meet the Bloggers

Douglas Williams is a blogger who currently lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  He recently graduated from the University of Missouri Columbia with a Master’s of Public Affairs, and has begun a Ph.D. program in Political Science at The University of Alabama.  His political interests are varied, ranging from local ballot propositions to overseas elections for national parliaments.  He founded My Progressive Life on November 7, 2009.

laura weldy is a recent graduate of the university of minnesota morris, with a degree in sociology and gender, women and sexualities studies. she is heavily invested in human rights and feminist issues world wide, and believes that awareness is the first step toward activism. inspirations include emma goldman, all the beat poets, jeanette winterson and paulo freire. laura loves to be on the road, and is always in the middle of a few great books.

Matt grew up in Walker, Minnesota and went to school at the University of Minnesota in Morris where he majored in political science and minored in communications and media. Some of things he’s most interested in are politics, Minnesota sports, and education.

Zeb Beilke-McCallum lives in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his BA from University of St. Thomas and is a graduate of The University of Minnesota Duluth’s Masters of Advocacy and Political Leadership program. Zeb has spent the last six years as a community organizer working on issues such as affordable housing, environmental justice and workers rights. Zeb can also be found at one of Iowa’s many great sports bars cheering on the Baltimore Ravens or the Minnesota Twins!

Marshall Johnson majored in Business at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Marshall excelled in campus/community leadership, leading major initiatives including the development of campus wide recycling, construction of the first LEED-certified dormitory in the University system, and the conception and development of the Office of Diversity & Equity.  Marshall continues his passion for diversity, inclusion and environmental conservation through his outreach work for Audubon Dakota.
