As expected….

the Minnesota Governor’s race has gone from a thriller to a snoozer. The last two polls have shown former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton, the candidate of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, with leads of 9 and 11 points over State Rep. Tom Emmer, the Republican gubernatorial candidate.  The Star Tribune poll is pretty instructive because it was [...]

An interesting poll in the Minnesota Governor’s race, considered.

The latest poll in the Minnesota gubernatorial race is an interesting one, which is why I gave my blog post that title. It goes like this: Mark Dayton (DFL) 38, Tom Emmer (R) 36, Tom Horner (IP) 18. This result is, indeed, interesting for a few reasons.

A breakdown of the gubernatorial election in Minnesota.

Minnesota holds its elections for statewide constitutional officers this year.  This post will focus on the gubernatorial race, as it is at the top of the ballot this year and the other races appear to be in hand for the incumbents.  The contestants in the gubernatorial race are former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton (Democratic-Farmer-Labor), State [...]

Do primaries help candidates (my thoughts on the Minnesota DFL endorsing process)?

During the 2008 Presidential Primary, I was (obviously) in the camp of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).  Around February, it became obvious that U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) had no chance of catching Obama in the delegate count.  Yet, she still kept at it.  I would think that this was antithetical to the sort of [...]

It is election night in Minnesota!

Tonight is the night of the Minnesota Primary.  There are a couple of exciting races to watch tonight, so let’s get right to it. The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) has their gubernatorial primary tonight.  Competing in this race are former State Rep. Matt Entenza, former U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton, and House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher.  Kelliher [...]

It is election night…..in Illinois and Minnesota.

So here is the way that the night appears to be going….

Why I am supporting Steve Kelley for Governor of Minnesota, and why you should too.

The DFL caucus is now 48 and a half hours away from beginning, and I feel like I should say something as far as who I would pick if I could be at the caucuses at Centennial High School’s Red Building on February 2 at 7 PM.  The reason that I say “if I could [...]

Update on the Minnesota Governor’s Race.

So there has been some action since the last time I spoke on this matter.  Some people have gotten in (R.T. Rybak), some have dropped (Pat Anderson), and others have decided to eschew a convention endorsement and are taking the fight to the September 15th statewide primary (Susan Gaertner).

2010 Minnesota Governor’s Race, considered

While I am no longer a Minnesota voter, this is a race that maintains my interest.  Indeed, I believe that the stakes are pretty high for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) next year.  If they cannot win next year, with seemingly every advantage that one could ever imagine going their way, then their chances to end [...]
